Umi and Daedalus Are Back!

Atlantis, the Dragon City is a new card series introduced in the Beyond the Brave booster pack in July 2026. The series takes its name from the Field Spell of the same name, with the rest of the cards built around it or directly referencing it. On top of that, these cards were also designed around the Daedalus archetype and the Umi card series.
Basically, every monster in the archetype is exclusively WATER Attribute and exclusively Sea Serpent Type, as a reference to Daedalus himself. The monsters range from Level 4 to Level 7 and make use of Link Summoning, setting them apart from the WATER-based Shark Xyz archetype.
The deck’s main feature is its ability to change the name of any Monster Card to Umi. Absolutely every monster in the Monster Zone, and even the Continuous Spell Atlantis Advent in the Spell & Trap Zone, legally becomes Umi. Beyond that, the deck’s monsters can Special Summon themselves with incredible ease as long as Umi is present on the field.
Yu-Gi-Oh!’s 14th series seems to be making its intentions pretty clear: bringing older decks back into the game or completely reinventing them. Just look at the first booster packs with Yami Yugi on the cover. There’s clearly a strong sense of nostalgia here, bringing back a classic monster like Daedalus and one of the most iconic Field Spells in the game’s history, Umi. We’ll see the same approach with the new Time Wizard, the LIGHT and DARK Ritual series, new Aleister/Invoked support, Adamancipator, Destiny HERO, Jinzo, and plenty more. The game has finally decided to give Umi a helping hand, considering the strategy used to rely entirely on drawing that one specific card and getting it onto the field. And you can be sure that plenty of WATER decks are going to benefit from this archetype and become much stronger moving forward.
In my view, this new deck definitely has the potential to make a noticeable impact on the meta, placing itself comfortably among the strongest decks in the format thanks to the many possibilities created by its name-changing mechanic. That is, of course, alongside the extremely powerful effects of the deck’s Boss Monsters.
Could this finally be the moment for Ryota Kajiki to stand a chance against the legendary Attack the Moon?
