Banishing cards Face-down

Debut

Glorious Victors (2026)

“Xenovader△” (異解△ Ikai) is a Yu-Gi-Oh! archetype introduced in Deck Build Pack: Glorious Victors, bringing a set of Alien Monsters with the ability to banish the entire deck. The Monsters in the archetype belong exclusively to the Psychic Type and cover all six Attributes in the game (WATER, WIND, FIRE, EARTH, DARK, LIGHT).

The Monsters also follow a sequence of Levels running from Level 1 to Level 8, and each one is named after an “Underworld”/”Hell” from a different mythology. On top of this, there’s a link between the deck and the Monster Shelga, The Tri-Warlord, and the Bermuda Triangle, since they make use of the triangle in their artwork.

The defining mechanic of the archetype is banishing cards from the top of your own deck face-down, in an amount equal to the Level of the Monster, whenever it’s Normal or Special Summoned. In Yu-Gi-Oh!, banishing a card face-down takes it out of play almost for good, as very few cards interact with banished face-down cards (well, here we are). The Spell/Trap cards, meanwhile, let you make the most of having no cards left in your deck.

By banishing cards face-down instead of the traditional mill to the Graveyard, the deck protects itself against a good chunk of the techs that hate on the Graveyard, and in a way keeps its cards hidden, making it harder for the opponent to pick targets. At the same time, it puts the player in a risky spot, banishing the whole deck and edging closer to decking out

Each Monster has a different Attribute, with only LIGHT/DARK repeating (Sky Sheol and Yomi / Gehenna and Jahannam). Also, the Monsters’ effects are laid out as follows:

Each Monster can banish cards from the top of the deck in an amount equal to its Level. After that, each one has an effect that lets you manipulate, or gain effects based on, the amount banished.

The Level 1 to 4 Monsters each have a different Special Summon condition:

Gehenna – If you control no monsters.

Sky Sheol – If you already control a Xenovader monster.

Blue Tuonela – If your opponent controls more monsters than you.

Scarlet Naraka – If your opponent Special Summons a monster.

Also, the Level 1 to 4 Monsters carry the restriction “cannot activate cards or effects except Xenovader”, meaning these lower pieces are tied to the pure archetype. The Level 5 or higher Monsters, on the other hand, have no Summon Trigger and rely on your banished pile instead, seeing as they’re the “payoffs”.
